Brown spotting on and off for almost 2 weeks now. As of Mon. cervix was firm, closed, and no funneling on U/S. Baby looks healthy. 2nd pregnancy, 1st had some uterine irritability, dialated at 32 weeks but didn't deliver until 38. This time I have had a few contractions but nothing regular and not one in 2 hrs on the monitor. OBs have no idea expect possibly small partial placential abruption, placenta comes down close to the cervix but not covering it. Any thoughts? I have been taking it easy not knowing if this could be the start of PTL or incompetent cervix (had LEEP but it was BEFORE 1st pregnant so unlikely) but almost 2 weeks now and nothing new. If I were your patient what would you suspect? Is it unlikely to be PTL or incompetent cervix based on the fact that 9 days after the spotting began my cervix looked fine?
