Pre-conception ChecklistFrom: Mom-to-Be (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 14 Jul 2001 13:48:32 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Doctors and fellow Moms-to-be , Here's a pre-conception checklists I've drawn up , based on books and websites I've gone thro. I had a miscarriage recently and want to take some precautions before I concieve again to avoid having it a second time around . The list goes as follows : (1) Rubella (German Measles) Vaccinations. (2) Chicken Pox Vaccinations. (3) Tetanus Vaccinations. (4) Hepatitis-B Vaccinations. (5) Although I am not at risk for STDS (monogamous relationship between husband & me) , tests for all STD-s , just in case. (6) Dental Checkups and completion of all required dental work BEFORE conception. (7) De-sensitization to Sulpha drugs (terrible allergic reactions to all sulpha drugs , including a swollen face , sunken eyes , trouble breathing etc). I mean to discuss this with my physician , but would also like to know if anyone else has gone thro' such de-sensitizations before . (8) Lose weight , esp. weight gained as a result of last pregnancy & mis-carriage . (9) Starting on pre-natals BEFORE conception , to ensure adequate nutritional , vitamin and mineral intake for mother and good supply of these to baby in the initial months of pregnancy. (9) Reduction in caffine & refined sugar intake. (10) Getting bronchitis under control. (11) Husband on B-complex vitamins , to ensure father's health and nutritional requirements. (12) Non-smoking couple, so no worry about tobacco. I'd be happy if you people could tell me if I've missed anything from this list. Would be grateful for any additional inputs / suggestions / ideas especially on diet , examinations , vaccinations etc that would put the father's health at an optimum level to ensure high quality sperms. Thank you all for your time and ideas.
