Reflux Driving Me Crazy and Only at 10 wks

Found out I was pregnant Jun 5 and immediately stopped taking Protonix 40 mg a day. After less than one week I had all my old esophageal symptoms back -- foreign body sensation, hoarseness, burning very sore throat PLUS heartburn symptoms - pressure and pain midchest related to eating - that I never had before PPI meds. I'm on military medical and drs. refused to see me before wk 11 but did tell me I could take Zantac. Well, 150 mg helped for a week or so. Now I seem to be becoming resistant. I am on 6 minimeals a day, very low fat because I also have recurring bile stones in duct after gall bladder removal, lots of water, avoiding caffeine and acidic foods.

I hate to take any more meds while pregnant, but I am extremely uncomfortable and worried about my esophagus, especially since I know this will only get worse as my uterus rises higher in my abdomen. My questions are:

1) Can I take more than 150 mg of Zantac a day, at least until I see dr. next week?

2) I know Prilosec is preg. Cat C -- has it really been found to cause defects? Has it been found safe after first trimester? Does anyone prescribe this or anything besides Zantac and Tums?

3) I was also told over the phone that they may rate me high risk because of my recurring bile stones and that there is a medicine to prevent their recurrence that some pregnant patients are taking. Are you aware of this med and its safety? Does it sound right to make me high risk?

I feel like this should be a minor thing but discomfort in digestive system has become my focus every waking moment. I am really tired and fearful of it worsening.

Thank you very much for your time and efforts -- they are appreciated.
