Amy, They are looking at the gross chromosomal make-up of the baby. The four most common abnormalities seen are trisomy 21, trisomy 13, trisomy 18 and Turner's Syndrome (XO). The analysis would also reveal deletions and translocations. Usually the AFP is also checked to rule-out small spinal lesions as well... Lynn
