Cristy, Early studies pointed to an increased rate of fetal malformation in patients exposed to phisohex (actually hexochlorophene), however those studies were shown to be less than adequate. A study since has shown that there appears to be an increased risk of mental retardation in women who are occupationally exposed to hexochlorophene in the 6th through 9th month of gestation... Lynn
