*The most common cause for mild pyelectasis is simply anatomy-usually a sort of obstruction of the tube leading from the kidneys (ureter) at the point that it dives into the pelvis. Most babies will outgrow this as the ureter gains more integrity and it doesn't contribute to any renal damage.

*As long as it does not progress and worsen, the odds are very high.

*Intervention is not usually undertaken prior to birth. If it persists through the time of birth, it is simply evaluated via ultrasound following delivery and then plans are made from there is anything is required-usually it isn't.

*No, there is really no reason because no intervention would be undertaken prior to that.
