3 day diet before 3 hour GDT???

I failed the one hour glucose test with a number of 200. I am taking the three hour test Friday morning, but they told me I have to follow a special diet that contains A LOT of sugar, syrups and jellys for three days. I have yet to see anyone else talk about being put on any special diet before doing the fast and three hour test, is this diet common or unusual? I also have concerns that this high sugar diet, definitely more than I normally eat, is going to make the numbers really high for this test making it look worse than it possibly is. Is this true or will it produce a more accurate number somehow? I am 18 weeks pregnant at 35 years old with a previous intrauterine death at 20 weeks.
