Dr. Shanahan,

I'm so glad you're the doctor who replied. I actually came across this site because of your excellent book, which I bought when I first became pregnant. It's great and answered all the questions I was too dumbfounded to ask my doctor after the ulstrasound. Here's what I found out since I wrote last: I was 7w6d when I had the u/s and the doctor said the sac looked more like a 5-and-a-half-week-old. Later, after some research on the internet, I called our nurse to ask about sac size and heartbeat. She said the sac measured 6.7 mm --- smaller than the average 5-and-a-half-week-old. She also then told me that the technician saw no fetal pole and no heartbeat. I really think this is a missed abortion. I'm just nervous about miscarrying too late and all the complications you talk about on pp. 60 & 61 of your book. Not sure why the hCG levels except thta they want to see if they're going down. We go back Monday for the u/s and blood test. Any questions you think I should ask my doctor, or is this over?

Thank you so much for your great book, this site, and what you do.

Blessings to Hunter,
