Vertigo during pregnancyFrom: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Jun 2001 09:29:27 -0500 (CDT)
I am 30 weeks pregnant and out of the blue two days ago, I awoke with feeling very dizzy and lightheaded. Everytime I turned my head I felt sick and off balance. I thought it was because I was hungry, so I ate a large healthy breakfast and went back to bed. I awoke again feeling dizzy and nauseated. I did go to my OB that day--I was feeling kind of scared. Everything was fine in terms of sugar levels, blood pressure (both sitting and standing), no anemia, etc... Upon awaking the following day with little to no improvemtent in my condition, I went to a ENT who diagnosed me with Vertigo. He felt my symptoms were realted to crystals forming in my inner ear, but because I was pregnant, would not prescribe meds, give me the exercises or do an adjustment--all things he could have done for someone not pregnant. As I am slowly recovering from this unexpected sickness, I can't help but be curious if this happens to other women who are pregnant. I have never woken up with Vertigo in my life nor has anyone in my family experienced such a thing. Has anyone had a familiar experience? Wendy (adler1016@aol.com)
