1st Postpartum Period - HELP!!

I called my ob/gyn on Monday. He asked me if I was still nursing and I said yes, 1 - 2 times a day. He told me I need to stop breastfeeding completely because it was "messing up my cycles". He said that my body doesn't know whether or not it should ovulate. Does that make sense to you? I am not on birth control or any other medications.

Is it normal for my period to be lasting so long? I bled for 7 weeks after I gave birth. I don't know what to do! I don't really want to stop nursing, but I also don't want to go on bleeding indefinitely. No cramps though which I'm hoping is a good thing.

Any other suggestions? What should I do?
