Here are my questions:

first, is >there really anything to be concerned about, since I'm only effaced and
>not dilated?

*Given the fact that you have had a child, your cervix probably lives at 25% effacement. That exam is not unusual at all.

My doctor is not too worried that I will go into full labor >just yet, but he didn't want to take the chance, which I can understand.
>But I hate the Brethine already because it makes me sleepy and jittery
>at the same time.

*I hate to be a stick in the mud, but the studies we have on oral terbulatine and its efficacy in preventing preterm birth was no better than a sugar tablet.

Will my body get used to it soon, or will I likely >always feel that way as long as I take the stuff?

*You will likely continue to be shaky, but this is the only effect you are getting.

Could I safely cut >down on the Brethine if my contractions slow down?

*Refer to answers above. >
>And this is a silly question, but does all of this hopefully mean that I
>won't go so far overdue again this time?

It may, but unfortunately, there is no sure way to know... Lynn
