Usually less than 24 weeks is incompatible with life outside the womb, but this can be a very gray area. Weight is not the only issue involved. If baby was born, with eyes not fused shut, alert, or crying, or making a respiratory effort, than they would be resuscitated. Hypothermia in a preemie baby is a big problem. Preemie baby's lack brown fat, a fat stored under the skin that acts as insulation to keep warmth in. It is so improtant to conserve a preemie's body heat at all times. They should be kept in a warmer, with a hat on their heads. I am not sure what answers you are seeking, but write back, and I will try to see if I can help
