Re: cramping/possible braxton hicks??

While 19 weeks is early for BH contractions I did have them at that time and was monitored all day at the hospital until they became less frequent. I am thin so it was easy to feel my uterus tighten. The doctor is only concerned if I have 6 or more in one hour. He has given me Brethine to take PRN (that is somewhat controversial about whether it helps or not) to stop the contractions when I have that many. (I had a 31 week delivery previously). I am now 25 weeks and I feel them all day long and they are often painful. However, so far they appear to be more of a nuisance than anything else (hopefully). It sounds like my doctor is going to check my cervix with u/s in a few weeks if they continue. Before my preterm labor I had alot like this too - so it's hard to know when they are OK and when they are not since I had already dilated some before the regular pre-term labor contractions started at 30 weeks. Only your doctor can check and tell you if you have a problem or not. Good luck!

Also, my doctor checked me for UTI and vaginal infection when I was having alot of BH contractions as those problems can cause alot of uterine contractions also. In general, he told me that with successive pregancies you will tend to feel contractions sooner and they may be uncomfortable sooner too (w/o being a problem).

Also, bh don't get stronger as time goes on. have had a little of the crampy pain (which feels so much like my endo) Most of mine are like my uterus squeezing. I hope this helps.
