Re: Medication and Contractions for Dr. Shanahan

Hi Dr. Shanahan. Yes, I did mention this at my last visit. I didn't get the info that I really needed, though. I was only able to see the nurse practicioner for my last visit but she did ask my OB about the Nifedipine when I was there. I guess he is not too concerned because his reply was "Yes she'll still feel some contractions but they are most likely just uterine irritability". And then the NP said no matter what, I am far along enough that things would be ok. (this confused me a bit - so why am I still on this drug?)

Also, the NP did not perform a cervical exam because according to her "the circumstances" (meaning b/c I had my two year old and 11 year old stepdaughter present) it was not the right time to do an exam (hmmm). I kind of wondered about why she wouldn't perform it if it was necessary but we had been waiting so long to see someone I just wanted to go home (my 2 yr old was throwing a tantrum from being so restless!)

Thanks for your previous response!
