Usually they range between 135 and 150. The lower it is one will pick up a few extra cases of gestational diabetes, but will have to do a 100 or so extra 3 hour glucose tolerance tests to do it. The higher it is, one will do fewer 3 hour tests and will miss a case or 2 of gestational diabetes. This test is really a screening test. It is a simple easy inexpensive test to pick out those upon whom to do a more extensive not so simple and more costly test which will make the diagnosis.
