Pregnancy after D&C

Hi, thanks in advance for responding. On April 27 I had a d&c at 10 1/2 weeks. A fetal h/b was seen at 8w6d, but the second u/s showed no h/b and fetus was only 9w3d instead of 10 1/2 wks. I had very light bleeding/spotting for about 2 wks. All bleeding was gone by 5/16. On 5/16, I had a quant hcg done which showed a level of 60. On 5/18, two days later, it had dropped to 30. On 5/25, I started some light spotting/staining, primarily brown with some pink or red mixed in. It appeared only when I wiped, not enough to come out on a pad. I took a HPT on 5/27 and got a very faint line just before the time limit for reading the test expired (test said not to read after 20 min., line appeared at 15-18 min. and got darker after). I took another HPT (which was a weaker test - supposedly tests at 60 miu vs. 40 miu for the first test I took) this morning. A line appeared within one minute which was medium dark (about 1/2 as dark as the test line). My questions are:

1. What is the chance that this is leftover hcg since my last blood test was on 5/18 and showed a 30 (after being a 60 2 days before)?

2. If it is leftover hcg, why would I test positive so much more quickly on a lower strength test, and why would the line be darker?

Thanks, Alison
