Ovarian CystFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 2 Jun 2001 22:24:50 -0500 (CDT)
I have had lower right quadrant pain for two months now. I went to see my PCP and she diagnosed an ovarian cyst based on my history (no physical exam, no tests). She told me to wait 2 months and come back to see her--that they often resolve after 2 months. Well, my pain is getting worse. The Ibuprofen is NOT helping, it's been two months and my appointment with her isn't for another month. I got the supposed cyst 3 weeks BEFORE I had my first PP cycle. I called my GYN and made an appointment to see him next week because the pain is not going away. Is it reasonable for me to see him or will he just send me home and tell me to wait it out? How do they treat cysts? I have Lupus and my Rheumatologist is not keen on the idea of me taking OCP because of the possible effects on my Lupus, but he said I could for a SHORT time. I am desperate to get some relief. One more question, do cysts often cause midcycle bleeding? Thank you for any insight you can provide!
