I had previously requested information on the statistics of a successful VBAC... Subject: Re: vbac success rate and uterine rupture Date: Sat, 26 May 2001 13:58:02 -0500 if the scar is low transverse, the rupture rate is 1%, regardless of how many successful VBACs you have had. If the scar is vertical the rupture rate is as high as 4-9%. If it is T shaped it is 4 - 9%. If the scar is unknown, we assume the worst M. Kelly Shanahan, MD, FACOG South Lake Tahoe, CA
I have already spoken to my OB a couple of weeks ago and told him of my
intentions of going through with a trial of labor even though we do not know
what the scar is. He said that he would work with me and when I go into
labor, as a precaution would use a pressure catheter and start pitocin.
>From what I could find at JAMA, there is an increase in uterine rupture with I could only read excerpts in JAMA and would like to read more in depth on this subject. I would appreciate some help in locating this information. Thank You.
