I had previously requested information on the statistics of a successful VBAC...

Subject: Re: vbac success rate and uterine rupture Date: Sat, 26 May 2001 13:58:02 -0500 if the scar is low transverse, the rupture rate is 1%, regardless of how many successful VBACs you have had. If the scar is vertical the rupture rate is as high as 4-9%. If it is T shaped it is 4 - 9%. If the scar is unknown, we assume the worst

I have already spoken to my OB a couple of weeks ago and told him of my intentions of going through with a trial of labor even though we do not know what the scar is. He said that he would work with me and when I go into labor, as a precaution would use a pressure catheter and start pitocin. >From what I could find at JAMA, there is an increase in uterine rupture with
induction of labor. My second daughter was a VBAC, with my water breaking in the middle of the night and active labor starting about 0830 and delivered about 1230 without being induced (spontaneous delivery I believe I read on the forum before). At this point I am cautious of using the meds to help facilitate labor.

I could only read excerpts in JAMA and would like to read more in depth on this subject. I would appreciate some help in locating this information.

Thank You.
