A bit of history: at 31 weeks with my 2nd child I experienced menstral like cramping for 3 days. I saw my OBs everyday and they did several different urine cultures, etc. It culminated after a level II ultrasound to rule out inner dilation. I used the restroom that evening and when I wiped, it was blood red. I spend the night in the hospital where they did a catheter urine sample that was bright red, but tested negative for UTI at both the short test and when cultured for 48 hours. I had my kidneys ultrasounded to rule out problems. They passed with flying colors. The blood would appear for 24-48 hours, then disappear and re-appear with cramping/kidney pain about 72 hours later. This continued for 2 weeks, then it disappeared. I was sent to a uriologist who did a cystoscopy and found everything to be normal. He said that there was a possibility of a viral bladder infection. I am currently pg with my 3rd child. I did the blood red urine at 5 weeks (past LMP) and I am currently 11 weeks (past LMP) and I am experiencing it again. The first time my OB treated me with Macrobid, just in case, but the blood had disappeared. This time I was able to give a sample while bleeding. It came back negative for a UTI, but they are currently culturing it for 48 hours. My kidneys are very sore. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow afternoon when the 48 hour culture should be done. Does anyone have any experience with this?
