I have thyroid and heart probs....can I get pg?From: V. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 May 2001 11:57:38 -0500 (CDT)
I had a full term pregnancy in january 98. My little girl was 4 pds. In january this year I began dieting, I weighed 180pds at the time and by april I weighed 120pds now I weigh 100pds. I went to the eye doctor because my eye had began to bulge out of the socket at least twice it's size. they sent me to get bloodwork done. I also had a goiter. The bloodwork came back saying my thyroid is totally out of whack and my heart is arrhythimic (sp?). So I am supposed to take four months of meds to stop the bad part of the thyroid and 4 months to get the good going and 4 months of heart medication. I still feel like I should lose a little more weight before I get pregnant. My normal weight is around 130pds but thats too heavy for my 5'6 frame. Can I get pregnant withing hte next month or so? Will these medications hinder getting pregnant? I was told I may become infertile by the thyroid problem...but i just don't believe that since it's not a problem in my reproductive system. Thanks for any help...I really appreciate it:}
