Possible Pregnancy after Miscarriage? Reply: William McIntosh, MD: "Re: Possible Pregnancy after Miscarriage?" Hi. I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage on 4/25 at 11 weeks, and had a d&c on 4/27. All bleeding was gone by May 12th. I had a blood test on Wednesday, May 16th which showed a hcg level of 62. I had a follow-up blood test on Friday, May 18th which showed a hcg level of 31. I begin feeling like my period was coming on May 20th - crampy, achy feeling in my groin off and on. Nothing happened. Then on May 25th, I started getting intermittant staining, alternating between pinkish, watery discharge and brown discharge. Not enough to come out on a pad, only when I wiped. I then took an hpt on Saturday, May 26th which came up a light positive within the stated time limit. It was a generic, so I don't know what miu of hcg it tested for. I took an EPT hpt the next day on May 27th and came up with a darker positive. I know EPT tests at 40 miu. Based on those facts, I have the following questions: 1. If I had a hcg level of 31 over a week before, could the hpts still be picking up residual hcg even though they don't measure until you hit 40 miu? 2. If I had a hcg level of 31 the previous week, is it possible that I conceived? 3. If I am pregnant, does that staining mean I am having a m/c? Thank you for your help.
