fibroid surgery risks

I have a very large pedunculated fibroid (14 mm or cm, I can't remember, but big) that I'd like to have removed. However, I have a child and do not want to take any big risks (actually I don't even like small ones). So, what are the risks? Do I have to have the surgery done under general anesthesia? What are my risks of needing a transfusion? Thanks.
