Hi Lana, Congratulations. I have Lupus and was in remission for 7 years when I got pregnant with my son (now 8 months old). I had a flare during pregnancy that worsened after pregnancy that made it necessary for me to take prednisone during pregnancy. The pred. helped me feel better, but made me have gestational diabetes and I had to take insulin. It wasn't fun, but my son was perfect. I saw a Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor and had routine ultrasounds every 6 weeks. I also had to see my rheumatologist every 4 weeks. I wonder why you're starting heparin so late. Have you tested positive for antiphospolipid antibodies, anticardiolipin antibodies or the Lupus anticoagulent? From what my docs told these antibodies often cause problems EARLY in the pregnancy--when I saw my doc at 10 weeks she told me that there was no PROVEN benefit to starting baby aspirin that late becaus if their was damage it was already done and heparin doesn't help unles you have those specific antibodies. I didn't have APA, ACA or LA to worry about so it may be different for you. Best Wishes--My son is my greatest joy! Amy At Sat, 26 May 2001, Lana wrote: >
