Very good point Vicki. Introduction of anything into the vagina following rupture of the membranes increases the risk of infection and should be avoided. This is why we even try to limit the number of cervical checks during labor. I ran the issue of sexuality during labor by my nursing staff today after the original question. They are all mothers and labor nurses. They all simply rolled their eyes and said, "no way"... Lynn
