Oh, this sounds os familiar-my son didn't sleep by himself EVER until he was 3 months old. One thing that worked for us was that he slept better in the crib than the bassinett and he did great when he was in a sling or a front carrier, then at least I had my hands free. Also, putting him in his car seat to sleep helped my son sleep better. Good luck. It does get better. My son is almost 9 months old and he sleeps 10+ hours at night and takes 3 naps (by himself during the day.)
