Hi CJ,

I wanted to respond to your message, not because I have any special knowledge in this area, but because I had shigella (it may be spelled "shagella") about a year ago and understand the "stress" it must have had on your system. As someone who had it and had to go to the Emergency Room and have three bags of IV pumped into my system because of dehydration, I realize how the effects of dehydration may have harmed your unborn child. A doctor may say otherwise, but I don't see how bleeding rectally and severe dehydration, (not to mention vomitting and fever) could NOT affect your pregnancy. However, maybe your symptoms were not as severe as mine were. Either way, it's my humble opinion that shagella could likely cause a miscarriage. ( Although, yours may have been impending despite the shagella.) Who really ever knows? I hope this helps and I certainly hope that I haven't made you feel responsible in any way. You couldn't have controlled getting shagella any more than you could have controlled having a miscarriage in the first place. Take care and congratulations on your successful pregnancies. Try not to dwell on what could have been. :-)
