Lucy 37 weeks is a pretty safe bet for mature lungs. To be totally sure one whould have to opt for an amnio.

Your Dr is very unlikely going to give you a steroid shot as a safety net, these are not without risks. After 34 weeks they are usually discontinued even for preterm labor issues. Shots really are reserved for babies in possible trouble for preterm delivery when survival would be questionable without them. At 37 weeks you will be considered term by most Drs. I have a hunch that before your Dr would give a steroid shot, they would just postpone the cerclage removalby one week if you are concerned for questionable lung development. Postponing the removal is the less intrusive and safer for the baby.

I had my cerclages removed at 37 weeks and had one child preterm at 35 weeks. Her lungs were loud and clear when she came wailing out. No preemie issues and I had shots from week 28-34 in the pregnancy.

Best wishes and happy removal day!!!
