Doctor practices/spotting

I went to the Dr. today, and he said he would not take me as a patient because I am overweight. I also explained to him that have been spotting, and he does not seemed concerned. I am only 7 weeks pregnant. He said they a heartbeat could not be heard until 10 weeks, but I have heard differently. Can anyone tell me if it is legal for a Dr. to not take someone as patient due to being overweight. I have been having difficulty in finding a Dr. because I am overweight. It seems as though no one wants to mess with me. I am very concerned about the spotting.
