Early miscarriage or endometriosis?From: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 14 May 2001 16:23:51 -0500 (CDT)
Last Thursday and Friday, I got two faint positives on two different brands of pregnancy tests. At this point I was about four days late. On Saturday, I began experiencing cramping and spotting. By Sunday, the cramps were very severe and the bleeding was much heavier. I went to the doctor today (Monday) and had two transvaginal ultrasounds as well as a sonogram. A urine test for pregnancy was negative and there was no evidence of an ectopic. However, I overheard the doctors discussing a sac filled with blood which they could not account for and they mentioned the possibility of endometriosis. I am 27 years old and have never been diagnosed with this condition. I have relatively normal cycles, although I often have very painful cramps for the first few days of my period. Is it possible that I have endometriosis and it caused a false pregnancy test? It did not show on the sonogram, but the doctor said it is sometimes too microscopic to be evident. I am hoping to have children, and am fearful and frustrated by the lack of information from my doctor. Obviously, I will consult another doctor for her opinion but would appreciate your feedback.
