Lack of Weight Gain....did not see this particular issue in archives

I saw in the archives that women who weigh at/over 200 pounds before pregnancy do not necessarily need to gain any weight during pregnancy. Here is my question...If you weight 200 pounds pre-pregnancy and still weigh only 200 pounds at 39 weeks. If the baby is around 8 pounds and with the weight of placenta and blood volume, etc...does that mean that your body has actually lost the weight equal to the baby, placenta and etc? are you losing a pound or more for every pound the baby gains? thanks in advance for any light you can shed on my question!
