14.5 weeks pg and sickFrom: Jenny (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 May 2001 12:38:23 -0500 (CDT)
I am 14 1/2 weeks and have come down with a severe cold. I believe it may be turning into a sinus infection because of yellow discharge when I blow my nose. Because of postnasal drainage I have had a severe sore throat. It keeps me up at night. I wake about every 2 hours and stay awake 30-45 min at a time. Needless to say, I am exhausted. I have tried Benadryl and Sudafed, both with little relief. I am not big on taking medications and have beaten sinus infections before without antibiotics. Is it more dangerous to take medication or to have an untreated sinus infection for a week or more? Is there anything that I can do to help myself sleep at night, besides cough drops and water? I don't know how many more nights I can do this, but I really don't want to take antibiotics. I am okay with decongestants but not for a prolonged period of time. I believe that this all started with severe allergies, progresssed to a cold, and then to the sinus infection. Anything else I can try for my allergies? Sudafed is not really helping much anymore and Bendaryl makes me tired, as do most antihistamines. Thanks, Jenny
