Kristy,

I agree with you. If this child does have DS or any other defect for that matter, I wouldn't love it any less. I have heard many mothers of DS children talk about what a joy they are, sweet, loving, and gentle. God gave me this child and if there is something wrong with it I will look at it as if He thinks I am special enough to raise a child like this. My husband totally feels the same. As he puts it "so what if there is something wrong? That doesn't mean we would love it any less. We just might love it even more because of that." He has always been a champion of the underdog, so to speak. I want further testing simply because I need to prepare and educate myself ahead of time if it is DS, what to expect developmentally, medically, what services my child would qualify for. That way when he/she is born I can focus on loving and enjoying the child instead of being in shock and grief for the first week or whatever. But for now, there is nothing to do but wait until the Triple Screen Test and more u/s in a couple of weeks.I am not too sure I will go as far as amnio, though, unless maybe all the screeners and u/s point to yes. Even then, I don't know. I am so torn about this!
