Re: Furious with OB

This is what happens when you go to a practice that has multiple OBs working together. The only thing I'm surprised at is that he promised you he would deliver your baby. A number of things can make this impossible, illnesses, on-call schedules, family emergencies, vacations, etc. Put yourself into his shoes... He knew he was leaving, he tried to deliver your baby, and it didn't work, now what is he supposed to do? Would it be reasonable to expect him to cancel his plans, probably made months ago before you developed PIH, just in case you go into labor? If you trust your doctor, trust that he has left you in good hands. When you sign up with an OB, you sign up with his entire practice, because they all work together to cover one another's patients when necessary.

I went through something similar with my first pregnancy, with PIH, my doc leaving for a week during the middle of it, you have to roll with the punches, especially at this late stage. Relax, and think about the little baby you're about ready to see for the first time! You might not go into labor in the next 72 hours, then it will all be moot.

Best wishes for a healthy delivery!!
