Ovarian CystFrom: Randi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 23:30:33 -0500
I have a tennis ball sized cyst over my right ovary, it has been calcified in some parts and is possibly dermoid. I found it because I had irregular bleeding (three weeks out of each month). I was scheduled for a D&C and Hysteroscopy, both found nothing, but the bleeding stopped. I then went for an U/S (previously booked) and the cyst was found. I was scheduled for a laprascopy with possible ovary removal. I was found to be pregnant when doing my pre-op blood work. Very early about 4 to 6 weeks. My surgery was cancelled. My doctor assured me that this cyst would not cause damage to the fetus or the pregnancy, cause we were willing to postpone the pregnancy until I could have the cyst removed (for my safety and the fetus). Two days ago, I started bleeding very heavy, one pad completely full each hour, this lasted for 30 hours. I went to the ER and had a U/S done, which showed a shadow but not a clear gestastional sac. Could this cyst have caused this miscarriage? Do I have a chance of carrying a full term pregnancy with a cyst of this size? If it were to rupture would this cause harm to the fetus? Please help, I am very confused about the whole situation, we were happy to be pregnant, but do not want the worry of getting pregnant again and the cyst causing problems.
