echogenic marker with no other concernsFrom: nadia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 23:19:59 -0500
AT 20 WEEKS I WENT FOR A ROUTINE ULTRASOUND. The results came back with an echo genic marker indicating a slight possibility of downs. I am not sure whether it is a bilateral or a one sided focus at this time. My blood tests for screening are all within normal range and my doctor has recommended because of only one marker on the ultrasound and normal blood tests that no further testing is required. He stated that based on this evidence that I have a very low risk of having a downs baby and even consulted a geneticist who stated a 1 in 7000 chance of having this occur based I'm assuming on my testings. This sounds like very good odds and I'm concerned if that information could be correct or because I was so upset I misunderstood something. My doctor has not recommended an amnio or a second ultrasound at this time. Is this good advice? Please reply as i am losing sleep and don't think I can handle 4 months of worrying. thanks nadia
