Another Fifths QuestionFrom: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 23:19:04 -0500
I am 7wks pregnant and I teach first grade. We had a m/c in November so I'm a bit nervous. We did see a heartbeat at an ultrasound on Tuesday. :-) There were about 10 cases of Fifths in kindergarten and 2nd grade in February. At that time, we were ttc so I had the titers drawn to see if had ever had Fifths. I have not. It is now back in kindergarten again. My classroom is 2 doors down from the kindergarten classroom. I have a few questions. How contagious is it and is it airborne? What can I do to prevent getting it besides good hand washing techniques? Would it help to keep my classroom door closed and my windows open? Am I somewhat safe since it is not in my classroom? Is it dangerous enough to warrant staying out of school on sick days? Thank you for your time. Wendy
