Another Fifths QuestionFrom: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 23:14:39 -0500
I am a first grade teacher and am 7wks pregnant. Fifths disease was pretty rampant in kindergarten and second grade in my school in January. We were ttc at that time, so I had the blood test to see if I had it or had ever been exposed. The tests came back that I had never had it, so I have no antibodies against it. There is now another case of Fifths in kindergarten (2 doors down from my classroom). I have a few questions: How Fifths is transmitted? What can I do to prevent infection? Am I okay since it is not actually in my classroom? Is it dangerous enough to warrant staying out of school? I had a m/c in November, we're pregnant again and we just saw a heartbeat yesterday! I'm so excited, but I don't want to mess anything up! Thanks for your time. Wendy
