I'm 16 weeks LMP with my 4th child. Today I was having really severe pain along my left side. Occasionally it would pass, and sometimes I'd feel the same sort of pain (intense, crampy, rhythmic) on the right side. When the pain comes, I feel it all the way from hipbone down my thigh, and even in my back. Sometimes changing positiob would help, but usually in the area of making the pain switch sides.

I saw my OB/Gyn. The heart rate of the baby was fine, and my cervix was long and closed. He's testing my urine for bacteria, but he felt the pain was probably ligament pain. He felt my uterus when I was having the pain, and said it does not feel like a contraction to him.

Can ligament pain really be that severe, or is there something else we should be looking into?
