8-9 days past ovulation is way too early to lose hope for this cycle! Sometimes implantation doesn't even occur until now, and it takes something attached to the uterus to put HCG into your system.

I had terrible luck with the dbest tests, they are very sensitive but often give an evaporation line that could be mistaken for a positive. I tell everyone I know (who asks) not to use this brand of test.

Hang in there for a few more days, and take a test when you miss your period. I hope it's positive!
