Conception with only 1 tube?From: Monica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 10:53:13 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Respected Drs.: I am 36 years old and I lost my L. tube in 11/99 due to ruptured ectopic. HSG done in 3/99 revealed R. tube is OK. In 11/00, I miscarried due to chorioamnionitis. My questions are: 1. Should the HSG be repeated to re-check my R. tube's patency since the infection? and, 2. My ovulation is very predictable per physical symptoms, verified by OPKs. For the past 3 months I've had intercourse during my peak time; however, for the past 3 months I'm very sure (based on symptoms experienced) I ovulated from my L. side. I've read that having only one tube doesn't matter; however, given my age (and lack of pregnancy), how long should I "wait it out" before seeking intervention? Is the "egg catching" from tubes and ovaries opposite each other the exception vs. the norm? Your expert opinion is most appreciated. Thank you.
