Braxton Hicks at 18 weeksFrom: Sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Apr 2001 17:52:43 -0500 (CDT)
I am 18 weeks pregnant with my 4th. The last 1.5 weeks I have started noticing uncomfortable BH contractions (I am thin so I can feel that my uterus is like a hard ball when I feel the BH contraction.). I have heard that pregnancy symptoms are felt earlier in each successive pregnancy so I wasn't sure if I should ignore these or not. I am still able to feel the baby's little movements. My next doctor appt isn't for 2 weeks so I was looking for some input. Some background...My second pregnancy I had premature labor at 30 weeks (dilated 1 cm) which then ended with a c-section for placenta abruption at 31.2 weeks. My 3rd pregnancy I had lots of BH contractions the last 20 weeks for which the doctor had me take a leave from work and take Terbutaline if they didn't subside after rest and more water - sometimes I ended up in the hospital for observation ... I made it full term and always thought those problems were the result of an amnio at 19 weeks which laid me up in the hospital for 5 days with severe uterine irritability and spotting. (My first was uneventful and I was induced 11 days past due date). (I decided not to do the amnio this time for fear of a repeat experience). Thanks for any inputs or opinions.
