Thank-you Dr. McIntosh for answering my question re: hcg levels and heartbeatFrom: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 24 Apr 2001 18:02:18 -0500 (CDT)
Dr. McIntosh Thank-you so much for thoroughly answering my question, you have put my mind at ease quite a bit. However, I did forget to mention one thing on my last posting. I had some red blood on Friday when I wiped myself. I then put a pad on and changed it 2-3 times per day so as to track the amount of blood that I was losing. At first the blood was pinkish-red and then the rest of the time Sat. Sun. and Mon. it was brownish. The most that ever seemed to gather was maybe the size of a dime, a few different spots of it. I told my obgyn and he said, before doing the vagU/S that he did not expect to see life. But then there it was, he could see the baby and the heartbeat. What do you think this could be? He said I could be in the midst of having a miscarriage. So he sent me for the blood work Apr.23 and today I found out that although I bled all weekend the Hcg still increased from 3 days prior at 10072 to 16643. So with this plus the heartbeat do you still think the chances <5% that I will miscarry? I love detailed responses-if you have the time. Sorry this posting is so long, I just didn't want to leave anything out. Thanks again for your time.
