Nasal Spray and the harm it doesFrom: Shannon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 24 Apr 2001 14:05:59 -0500 (CDT)
I was addicted to nasal spray prior to getting pregnant. Once I found out I quit but had the rebound effect. I am no longer using them except I developed a bad sinus infection and now have a terrible cold with severe stuffiness. I took a generic nasal spray and diluted with saline. I only use at night and spray just enough to wet the inside of my nose. It is not a full spray amount. My Dr said ok as long as I try to limit my use of it. I have not read anywhere about the effects nasal spray can have on an unborm baby. I am now at 21 weeks and worry. I have had many terrible nights because I am trying not to use it plus I am on Claritin due to being so congested and sneezing all the time which I have never had allergies before. I also am trying not to use Calritin everyday as well. Am I doing ok and what known affects can nasal spray have on an unborn baby? Thanks Shannon
