5 weeks pregnant and no HCG testing

I am currently just a little over 5 weeks pregnant and had my first prenatal visit yesterday. While the Dr. took urine, she didn't take any blood and therefore didn't do a HCG test. I thought it was common practice to do a HCG test as well as many others on the first visit. Should I request a hcg test to know that the pregnancy is pregressing properly? Are there any other tests that should be performed? My next visit isn't until 6/1 and I would prefer to have some type of testing before then. What is your advice.
