Surgery is not the only treatment for endometriosis. It is the only treatment that helped me, but it is not the only treatment that has been effective for others. Ultrasound is not a good diagnostic for endo, only laparoscopic surgery and pathology of samples can definitively diagnose endo. Aleve will help with the pain, but you might develop a tolerance for the medicine like I did, and it could quit working. If you do have endo, you can find a specialist to help you. I went undiagnosed for 20 years before the pain became so severe that I could no longer function normally. Antidepressants did not help me, since my depression was a result of the constant pain I was in. Please try to find help, one way or another. Check out the endo forum here at obgyn.net for support. best of luck to both of you! Stacy F http://pages.ivillage.com/stafl/stacyspage/
