5th m/c and no diagnosis! 8(From: Sharon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Apr 2001 22:07:32 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently pregnant for the 5th time with the previous 4 ending in miscarriage prior to the 8th week. My lmp was March 9th and I have been spotting for 3 days now. I realize that I am most likely in store for yet another miscarriage because things are going exactly as they have the previous times. While all this is extremely emotional for me, I find myself getting angry more so than sad because I have not been tested for anything such as infection, genetic factors, endocrine factors, immunologic factors, and maternal systemic disease. Another thing I have read about is having elevated NK "natural killer" cells which is attacking my embryo. All of these are potential causes for recurrent miscarriages yet none of the 3 infertility specialists I have seen over the last 7 years tested me for them. My obgyn md will confirm my pregnancies, place me me on progesterone tx and sets me up an appt to come in at week 8. By then, its too late as I have miscarried yet again 8( I cant seem to find a doctor that will treat me aggressively enough. My questions for you is can a primary care physician run tests which could possibly diagnose my recurret miscarriages? If so, what tests would you recommend? If not, what type of doctor do I need to seek out for these testings? I would really appreciate a response regarding this! Thanks in advance!
