Indirect contact with ChickenpoxFrom: Maria (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Apr 2001 19:18:37 -0500 (CDT)
My sister, who lives 200 miles away, contracted chickenpox with the first spots showing on 28th March. Nearly all spots are now crusted over. My parents have both had chickenpox and my father shingles also. They are due to visit us this Easter weekend. Both have been in contact with my sister. My wife will be full term on 21st April. She does not know whether or not she has had chickenpox. 1. Are we safe to allow the visit from my parents this weekend? 2. Should my wife give birth, are we safe to allow my parents to come into contact with the newborn? If not, when will it be safe?
