What does the U/S say? Vanishing twin can only be diagnosed if twins are identified by U/S at some point, and then one disappears. On the other hand, subchorionic hemorrhage is very common in early pregnancy, and while it is a source of considerable anxiety, it usually turns out OK. If you are trying to miscarry, there is nothing that can be done at this point in time, so the advice to wait until you pass tissue is a practical one, a bit cold perhaps, but practical. If you have seen a fetal heartbeat on U/S, then your risk of miscarriage at this point is about 5%.
