39 weeks pregnant & question about swimmingFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Apr 2001 12:17:32 -0500 (CDT)
My OB is out this week and not available to answer my question. I also searched the archives and couldn't find the info I was looking for. I am 39 1/2 weeks, 1-2 cm & 30% effaced. I was wondering if it was still safe for me to get in my pool. Not necessarily to swim laps, mostly just to float & feel weightless (ahhhh). I figured the only concern would be with harsh pool chemicals, but we have an ionic catalyst something-or-other-system, and the pool has less chlorine & chemicals than tap water. Is it still safe for me to get in even though I'm dilated a bit? I guess it would be no different than someone getting in a tub for a water birth, but I still don't want to take any risks (with infection or something??)! Thanks!! ~Beth
