Prednisone

Dr. von Almen: I read your answer below and now have a question--Does prednisone commonly mess up your cycles? How long does it take to get them back to normal? I am breast feeding my son who is 7 months old and haven't had a period. I thought it was bc of the breastfeeding, but I take between 10-20 mg. of prednisone. Could that be a contributing factor?

>>I also take 12 tablets Asacol per day. Should I go off it while trying to get pregnant, or while I am pregnant? Or is that riskier due to the chance of a flare up? Since diagnosed, I have never been off Asacol and therefore I don't even know if it is really doing anything for me. Are there risks to baby if I stay on Asacol during pregnancy? What are they?
>>Also, will it be more difficult for me to conceive as opposed to someone who does not have this disease? My appt with an OB. to answer these questions is not till September! need help! Thank you.
